出埃及記13章17節到22節

17法老放百姓走的時候

When Pharaoh let the people go

非利士人之地的路雖近

although that was near

上帝卻不領他們從那裏走

God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines

因為上帝說

For God said

恐怕百姓遇見戰爭就後悔

Lest the people change their minds when they see war

轉回埃及去

and return to Egypt

18上帝領百姓繞道而行

But God led the people around

走曠野的路到紅海

by the way of the wilderness toward the Red Sea

以色列人出埃及地

the people of Israel went up out of the land of Egypt

都帶著兵器上去equipped for battle

19摩西把約瑟的骸骨一起帶走

Moses took the bones of Joseph with him

因為約瑟曾叫以色列人鄭重地起誓

for Joseph had made the sons of Israel solemnly swear

對他們說 上帝必定眷顧你們

saying God will surely visit you

你們要把我的骸骨從這裏一起帶上去

you shall carry up my bones with you from here

20他們從疏割起程

they moved on from Succoth

在曠野邊上的以倘安營

encamped at Etham

21耶和華走在他們前面

on the edge of the wilderness

日間用雲柱引領他們的路

the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way

夜間用火柱照亮他們

by night in a pillar of fire to give them light

使他們日夜都可以行走

that they might travel by day and by night

22日間的雲柱The pillar of cloud by day

夜間的火柱The pillar of fire by night

總不離開百姓的面前

did not depart from before the people
